Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha is Nepal’s No. 1 Consultant and Kidney Transplant Surgeon. He was an Executive Director of the Human Organ Transplant Center, Govt. of Nepal, Bhaktapur has been honoured with Hon. Fellowship by the Association of Surgeons of India, Punjab State Chapter on Saturday, September September 2016, in Jalandhar, India.
Despite minimal resources, Dr Shrestha led the Human Organ Transplant Center, which has become Asia’s busiest renal transplantation centre. Besides, within four years of leadership, he has successfully performed more than 800 kidney & 4 Liver transplants with 99% accuracy. His contribution to the govt of Nepal is very memorable for a revolution in affordable healthcare. He made kidney transplants affordable for the common people in Nepal at the lowest cost in the world; the packages are around $3000 to $4000, and this credit goes to him. His efforts are memorable in providing free dialysis to kidney patients from the Ministry of Health, Nepal.
