IRCCS San Raffaele Turro Hospital was established in 1971 to provide specialist care for the most challenging medical diseases. It is a research hospital and university polyclinic recognized as a Scientific Hospitalization and Care Institute (IRCCS) for diabetes in 1972.
In 1991, when the Biotechnology Department (DiBiT) was established, primary results were achieved. Later, in 2001, the IRCCS qualification was expanded to include the entire field of molecular medicine due to the growth of the research sector. Moreover, in 2012, The San Raffaele joined the San Donato Group (GSD), Italy’s most extensive private hospital network.
