With 4100 prosthesis surgeries and 1400 spinal arthrodesis procedures yearly, the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute in Milan is the no. 1 hospital in Italy. The hospital is the best medical centre for clinical and pre-medical research, and it has also been granted an I.R.C.C.S. by the Italian Ministry of Health and Science for the study of locomotor system disorders. The hospital is also well-known for its teaching activity as a learning site for medical and surgery bachelor students under an agreement with the University of Milan.

Also, the Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute, well-known for its achievements in medicine, is now the typical home to RE.GA.IN, a new centre for the treatment of tendon pathologies and cartilage.
